Category Insights helps you spot category housekeeping tasks and open the right place in Bulk Category Editor to resolve them.
Open Bulk Category Editor > Insights to review your category health.
How it works
The Insights tab checks your current WooCommerce catalogue and groups common category tasks into clear cards. Each card shows a count, a preview of relevant products or categories, and a direct action button.
Use View categories or View products to expand a list. If there are many results, select Show more to load additional items.
Categories missing products
This check finds empty end-level categories: categories with no products and no child categories.
Use Add products to open the Move Products tab with that category selected as the destination. You can then select products and use Replace, Add, or Remove to update their category assignments.
Parent categories that contain child categories are not included in this check, even if they do not contain products themselves.
Uncategorised products
This check highlights products that need a category assignment.
Use Fix to open the affected product in the Move Products tab. Select one or more destination categories, then choose:
- Replace to replace the product’s current categories.
- Add to keep current categories and add new ones.
- Remove to remove only the selected categories.
Deep category paths
This check identifies categories that are three or more levels deep.
Deep structures are not necessarily wrong, but they can be harder for customers and store managers to navigate. Use View structure to open the full category branch from its top-level parent in the Categories tab. From there, you can review the hierarchy and move categories where needed.
Incomplete category details
This check finds categories missing a description, an image, or both.
The summary shows how many categories are missing each type of information. Each category in the list is marked with:
- Missing description
- Missing image
Use Fix to open that category directly in the Categories tab, where you can add the missing information and save your changes.
Tips
- Review Insights after importing categories or making larger catalogue changes.
- Use Show more for large catalogues instead of loading every result at once.
- Insights is a guide, not an error report. Some empty or deeply nested categories may be intentional.
- Use the Dark Mode option in Screen Options if you prefer a darker workspace.
