Below are common questions about using StockTrack Product Locations in real stores. If you do not find your answer here, see the Troubleshooting section or contact support.
NOTE: StockTrack was the previous name of StockTrack Product Locations.
Does StockTrack Product Locations replace WooCommerce’s stock system?
No. StockTrack Product Locations extends it.
Your WooCommerce product stock still shows the total stock. StockTrack Product Locations manages the local stock behind the scenes and updates the WooCommerce total automatically.
Do I need multiple warehouses to use StockTrack Product Locations?
No. Many stores use StockTrack Product Locations with a single warehouse, using sub-locations to manage shelves, rows, or storage areas.
What happens if I do not assign a location to a product?
If a product has WooCommerce stock but no local location, that quantity appears as Unassigned Stock.
You can claim it into any location at any time.
Why is Local Stock zero after installation?
This is expected.
Your WooCommerce stock is imported as Unassigned Stock.
You must claim it into the correct location(s) before StockTrack Product Locations can manage it.
Can I bulk-assign products to a location?
Yes.
Use the bulk action tools in the Local Stock tab to assign locations or claim stock for many products at once.
How do I fix incorrect stock totals?
Use the WC Total Stock dialog in the Local Stock table.
This shows all local stock values and lets you synchronize or correct the totals.
Can I change a product’s location later?
Yes.
Changing a product’s location does not affect its stock unless you also adjust quantities.
How does StockTrack Product Locations handle variable products?
Each variation has its own local stock, location, history, and snapshot values.
Variations are clearly marked in the Local Stock table.
Does claiming stock affect my WooCommerce total?
No.
Claiming stock only moves quantity from Unassigned Stock into the selected location.
It does not change the overall WooCommerce product stock.
Does StockTrack Product Locations track who made the change?
Yes.
Stock changes show the WordPress user who performed the adjustment.
Can I hide WooCommerce’s default stock message?
Yes.
Use the snippet in the Frontend Stock Display documentation.
This prevents duplicate stock information on product pages.
Will StockTrack Product Locations slow down my store?
No.
All heavy tasks, such as inventory snapshots, run as background jobs using Action Scheduler.
Normal usage has minimal impact on performance.
Does StockTrack Product Locations support import/export?
Local stock values are stored like any other metadata and can be imported or exported using standard WooCommerce/WordPress tools or external import plugins.
A dedicated importer may be added in a future update.
Can customers see which warehouse fulfills their order?
Not by default.
Customers only see the location availability if you add the shortcode to the product page.
How do snapshots affect stock?
Snapshots are read-only.
They do not change stock, pricing, or product settings.
Why are my snapshots empty?
Snapshots require:
- A cost field (or Auto Detect must find one)
- Local stock assignments
If either is missing, snapshot totals may appear as zero.
Do I need to use reasons and notes?
No, but they help when reviewing the History tab and are recommended for stores with multiple staff members.
Can I use StockTrack Product Locations with custom themes or builders?
Yes.
StockTrack Product Locations integrates into WooCommerce, so compatibility depends on whether the theme respects WooCommerce hooks. Most do.
Does StockTrack Product Locations affect order creation or checkout?
No.
Only the order edit screen changes stock based on fulfillment. Checkout behavior remains unchanged.
